ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb held a meeting on Tuesday with Muzamil Aslam, Advisor to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Finance, to address concerns regarding the province’s share and timely release of funds under the National Finance Commission (NFC) and related fiscal arrangements, according to a Finance Division statement.
During the meeting, Aurangzeb acknowledged the issues raised by the KP delegation and assured that the Finance Division would extend full support to ensure the province receives its rightful allocations under the NFC and other financial frameworks in line with established rules and procedures.
The discussions focused on the timely disbursement of funds for development projects in the merged districts, outstanding rehabilitation needs, and financial support for temporarily displaced persons. Broader issues concerning provincial fiscal entitlements and intergovernmental financial coordination were also reviewed.
The KP representatives emphasized the importance of predictable and timely funding to sustain development initiatives and meet urgent humanitarian and administrative needs in the merged districts. They also highlighted pending financial obligations related to displaced families and called for improved coordination between federal and provincial authorities.
Reaffirming the federal government’s commitment to cooperative federalism, Aurangzeb stressed that transparent financial management and effective coordination between all stakeholders were crucial for smooth fiscal operations. Both sides agreed to maintain close engagement through technical and institutional channels to resolve outstanding issues, ensure timely fund releases, and support development, public service delivery, and stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
