K-Electric (KE) on Wednesday announced the appointment of Shaheryar Arshad Chishty to perform the functions of chairman during the absence of Mark Gerard Skelton.
The development was disclosed in a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
Earlier, the company’s board had appointed Chishty as an alternate director to Skelton with immediate effect.
“We would like to further apprise that the Board of Directors of KEL, in its meeting held on 17 March 2026, has appointed Shaheryar Chishty to perform the functions of the chairman during the absence of Mark Skelton,” KE said on Wednesday.
According to details on KE’s website, Chishty founded AsiaPak Investments in 2011, which has grown into a leading infrastructure investment firm in Pakistan.
Before launching AsiaPak, he built a long career in investment banking in Hong Kong, working with Citigroup and Nomura. At Citigroup, he held several senior roles, including Head of Asia Industrials and Head of North Asia Mergers & Acquisitions until 2009.
Between 2009 and 2012, he worked at Nomura International in Hong Kong as Asia Head of Industrials Investment Banking and later as Global Head of Industrials Investment Banking.
Over an 18-year banking career, Chishty raised more than $18 billion in debt and equity capital and advised on mergers and acquisitions exceeding $60 billion in value.
His appointment comes amid recent leadership changes at KE following the resignation of Moonis Alvi as Chief Executive Officer. After his departure in February, Adeeb Ahmad was named interim CEO with immediate effect.
