ISLAMABAD: K-Electric (KE) Chief Executive Officer Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi has resigned from his position, according to a disclosure submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on February 6, 2026.
The announcement, made under Sections 96 and 131 of the Securities Act, 2015 and Clause 5.6.1(a) of the PSX Rule Book, formally notified the exchange of his departure and requested its dissemination to certificate holders. Alvi also confirmed his resignation in a post on X, stating that it had been “an honour to serve an institution so central to Karachi’s life,” and adding that he would support a smooth leadership transition.
His resignation follows a prolonged legal dispute stemming from a July 2025 order by the Sindh provincial ombudsman for protection against harassment of women, which directed his removal over allegations of harassment against a former KE chief marketing and communications officer and ordered him to pay Rs2.5 million in compensation.
Alvi denied the charges and challenged the ruling in the Sindh High Court, which suspended the ombudsman’s decision.On February 3, 2026, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori set aside the ombudsman’s order after hearing arguments from both sides.
While Alvi maintained that the complaint was not legally maintainable and based on assumptions, the complainant defended the original ruling as lawful and properly grounded.Despite the governor’s decision in his favour, Alvi has chosen to step down from his role as KE CEO.
