The first transshipment cargo vessel of May has docked at Gwadar Port, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, announced on Tuesday.
The vessel, MV Shu Long, is carrying 16,077 metric tons of cargo.
“Due to the current situation in the region, the vessel was redirected towards Gwadar,” the minister said.
He added that both the berthing of the ship and the cargo handling operations are being carried out efficiently.
Chaudhry highlighted that Gwadar Port is steadily strengthening its role as an alternative trade route, noting that four transshipment vessels had already arrived at the port in April.
He further emphasized that ongoing regional maritime dynamics are enhancing Gwadar’s strategic value, positioning it as a dependable hub for international trade.
